STAGES
Baiona
You will arrive in the capital of Lapurdi, located in the heart of the French Basque Country. You will go to the hotel, and we will have a meeting to talk about the route and hand out the material, clear up any doubts, etc.
Stage Baiona/Ainhoa : 32 Km 550+
Stage that runs along the banks of the river Nive and arrives in Ustaritz. From this beautiful village, we will go through paths that cross the fields of the famous Espelette pepper until we reach Zuraide. As soon as we leave the village, we will ascend to Pinodieta. It is about 3 km long and the only difficulty of the stage. Finally, we will hike down to Ainhoa, considered one of the ‘Plus Beaux Villages de France’.

Stage Ainhoa-Elizondo: 24 Km 750+
We will leave the beautiful village of Ainhoa to cross the border through Dantxarinea, a border district that is full of stores. Bit by bit, we will leave behind the commercial area and arrive in Urdax/Urdazubi. From there, we will climb up to the Otsondo pass. This pass has several steep slopes, but it is worth it because of its forests and the view at the top. Once there, we will hike down to Amaiur, a wonderful village that you will absolutely love. We will also go through Azpilkueta, Arizkun and Elbete before reaching the capital of the Baztan valley.

Dia 4: Stage Elizondo-Lantz: 25km 1100+
This is probably the hardest stage of the route due to the accumulated incline. We will leave and go to Irurita, a village with spectacular large houses. From there, we will enter the most unknown and most authentic part of Baztan. You will love the tiny villages of Ziga, Aniz and Berroeta. From Almandoz, we will begin to climb up to the Belate pass. The climb is almost entirely through beech forests. We will reach the hermitage of Belate and the Santa Maria de Belate hospital. From there, we will walk a few kilometres and reach the small village of Lantz, famous for its rural carnival.

Stage Lantz-Pamplona: 25km 250+
In this stage, we will notice a difference in the landscape; up until then, it will have been green and wooded, but now it will change to cereal fields and mediterranean forests. We will pass through small villages such as Olague, Burutain or Sorauren and arrive in Arre, where the Baztan road and the French road merge to reach Pamplona.
