Arrival at the hotel. We will have a meeting to clear up any doubts.
Elizondo-Erratzu (24 km- 1100 +)
We will begin the route by following the GR11 uphill until we reach the pass of Argibel, where we will leave the GR11 and continue to the left to the GRT5. After reaching the pass of Belaun, we will continue until we reach the next crossroads in Berderitz. From there, we will go through Basabar. After this last pass, we will leave the marks of the GR and go down to the neighbourhood of Iñarbegi. We will walk along an old PR towards the Xorroxin waterfall, which we will reach by leaving the main road. After visiting the waterfall, we will only have to walk for a little bit to arrive in Erratzu.
Erratzu-Bidarrai (23 km 1500+)
We will leave Erratzu and climb up to the border pass of Elorrieta. After a long, but quite easy climb we will rejoin the GR to head to the Izpegi pass. The views from up there are breathtaking. We will have the pleasure of having those same views as we begin to climb the mountain range of Iparla, passing through several peaks. From Iparla, we will be able to see our destination. We will quickly descend to finish the stage in Bidarrai.
Bidarrai-Ainhoa (24 km 1000+)
This stage goes through the French Basque Country and in between two beautiful villages, although we will walk along the border several times. At the very beginning, we will face the greatest difficulty of the day: climbing up to the Artzatei pass. From there, we will have a wonderful panoramic view while we walk through meadows until we reach the Col des Trois Croix and go down to the village of Ainhoa
Ainhoa-Bera (30 km 1400+)
From Ainhoa, we will go to the village of Sara. Both villages have the denomination of ‘The most beautiful villages of France’. We will walk through roads that cross farmhouses and will always have the reference of Larhun, an impressive mountain that has a famous funicular that carries thousands of tourists to the top. We will skirt it through the north side. We will slowly climb to Ibardin, a pass that borders Bera and is full of shops. From there, we will only have to go down to the village.
Bera-Elizondo (30 km 1450+)
The stage begins with several ups and downs, up until we reach the pass of Xorilepo. From there, we will pass through several ‘palomeras’ (nets that are used for capturing pigeons). The most famous ones are the ones in Etxalar. After having completed half the stage, we will reach the Eskisaroi pass, where we will have to face a long climb. Once we reach the summit, the path will be easier. In the last kilometres of the route, we will descend from Bagordi and arrive in Elizondo.
We offer the possibility of customizing the trekking route with different variations.
